On October 1st, I'd posted a quick blog about the arrival of fall and had promised some "colour" pics of the season from a quick trip Joanne and I would be taking later in the month. Well, that trip started yesterday at 10:00 a.m. when we hit the road and headed east to the town of Magog, roughly 142 kilometres or 85 miles east of Montreal. What follows is a brief but exciting video clip filmed during our trek.

As the video demonstrates, yes, we do have cars, trucks and even paved roads in Canada as transportation alternatives to dogsleds, making travel easier when there is no snow.

Our first stop upon our arrival was Mont-Orford, a ski resort and provincial park located minutes from Magog. Here, we set off on a trek towards the highest of three summits with a top elevation of 850 metres or 2,800 feet. The purpose of our visit and trek was to take the following photos for nobody else but you, my readers.

Following a picnic lunch, we headed to Magog, a tourist town with a population of 25,000, to visit and kill some time. While there, I took the following photo as I wondered, "Who built this house?" Please note, it is located on a small island near the edge of the lake with no bridges connecting to the mainland. The question which begs to be asked is, "Why the garage?" BTW, the property is for sale.

The next photo is a bit blurry but does show the wonderful array of colours across from Lake Memphremagog.

Our day ended at the Aux Jardins Champêtres, a lovely country inn where we were gatronomically delighted with a six course feast of fine French cuisine reflecting local delicacies including duck, trout, rabbit, venison and wine, of course, oui, oui. After dinner and following a couple of glasses of port, we dragged ourselves to our cozy room to rest and digest in preparation for this morning's five course breakfast. Needless to say, we skipped lunch when we got home.
