Who am I writing for?

Initially, the answer to the above question is easy. I’m writing for me because the stories need to get out and I’m writing for you for your entertainment. Past that however, things get a bit more complex… Who are you? Allow me to explain.

You are homemakers, doctors, mechanics and secretaries. You’re lawyers, accountants, plumbers and nurses. Some of you drive buses, trucks or taxis and others have a multitude of other occupations. You’re younger or older or perfectly in between and you can be either female or male. In summary, you’re a varied bunch but you all have two things in common.

The first is rather obvious but, just in case, I’ll say it. You all enjoy reading. The second thing you all have in common is what you like to read. Though some of your tastes may be varied and others may enjoy different genres, you all enjoy mysteries, suspense and thrillers. You like carefully constructed, fast-paced stories where the characters are real and the scenes are believable. Your bookshelves or e-reading platforms have titles by Child and Crais, Patterson and Connelly, Deaver and Cornwell, to name a few.

If the above describes you, you’re who I’m writing for.

Just recently started reading A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. Crime fiction/mystery/suspense thrillers are rapidly becoming my new favorites. Keep writing them!

Besides the lawyer, homemaker, doctor, mechanic, plumber, nurse and bus-truck-taxi driver... yes, all me.
