I LOVE how People ASK for Stuff

Posted by bigceebee on January 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM

I’ve been on Twitter for awhile and have ended up with a rather sizeable following over time. I chat with people, make jokes, banter with friends, tweet about my books and retweet about other people’s books, blogs, music and art, just as many retweet my stuff. As a result, incredible cross-promotional networks are developed with positive results for many involved.

I don’t ask anyone for anything. Friends, acquaintances and strangers alike simply hop in and retweet for me. From my side, most of the RTs I make are not based on requests but rather done of my own volition, because I find a tweet interesting or I’m reciprocating as thanks for all the help I receive. The concept of ‘giving’ is at play and when you give, you’d be surprised to see how much you receive.

However, there are those who don’t give… They ask, demand, even order… “Get me more followers”, “Give me a shoutout”, “RT this”… Some don’t even bother asking. They just send a link without any text whatsoever and expect me resend it out there simply because it was sent to me. Some of these people don’t even follow me. I’ve looked at some of their timelines to see countless tweets, one after the other, which basically scream, “ME”, “Give ME”, “Do something for ME”... No “Hello”, "How are you" or RTs for others… Just “ME”…

For some reason, I don’t tend to support these people as much… ;)

Thrillers so believable they could be non-fiction... http://amzn.to/kgLCXI
